Shahroudi: Transparency, Justice Prerequisites for Reforms

TEHRAN Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi said here Monday that the bases of reforms are transparency and justice in confronting plunderers those abusing power.

The Public Relations Department at the Judiciary quoted Shahroudi as saying that parts of remarks by the Leader of the Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on the Eid-ul-Fitr (fast-breaking feast) on December 27, concerned reforms. He said the Leader's recommendations in this regard would be put on the agenda of the heads of the three branches of power.

Shahroudi expressed hope that this would relieve the Leader's concern.

also, Hashemi Shahroudi said here Sunday that the staff of the Judiciary is the heart of the justice system and faithful judges would serve to form a healthy society.

He called on the Inspectorate Department of the Judiciary to eliminate certain personnel of the Judiciary involved in corruption.

Shahroudi had told a group of MPs on Saturday that the Judiciary has arrested 40 judges, secretaries and dealers involved in bribery and corruption.
